Collective Artist Management Internship - Spring 2018
The Collective is a leading entertainment management and production company. The Collective’s mission is to unlock the value of the direct relationship between artists and their fans by identifying, developing and maximizing opportunities for creative talent across a multitude of media platforms. Clients include Clint Black, Sara Evans, Corey Smith, Edwin McCain, and Steve Wariner. Based in Nashville, The Collective employs a staff of five full-time employees.
INTERNSHIP OUTCOMES: At the end of this internship, the student will be able to: function in any office environment regardless of industry, answer emails and phone calls in an appropriate manner, appropriately engage in industry- focused discussion with other business professionals, demonstrate an understanding of social media as a marketing platform for artists, navigate around Music Row and the downtown Nashville area, create media content for online use, and demonstrate an understanding for how an artist management company works.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Artist management is an all-encompassing field within the music business. Every day is different. We are a small office and because of that, we all wear a variety of hats. Our interns are no different. This is a less structured, more hands on opportunity.
Ideal candidate should:
- Be a self-starter
- Have a general knowledge of the music industry and it’s working parts - Have a great attitude and be willing to learn
- Have reliable transportation
- Be a good communicator
- Knowledge of Photoshop and digital video editing preferable
- Have experience with Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc.
During this internship, the student’s tasks might include, but are not limited to:
Digital media marketing techniques and discussions - Running errands
Music industry related research
Tour Marketing
Office oriented tasks like scheduling, scanning, printing, taking messages etc. - Registering songs with PROs/Copyright Office
Publishing Admin
Answering phones
Editing Videos
Creating digital marketing assets
Maintaining Websites
Organizing and tracking merchandise
Album release/marketing initiatives
Executing promotional strategies
Other tasks that could be helpful to the office or to the managers in the office
