Urban Development Intern
JOB OBJECTIVE: Under supervision, will work on one or more projects under the guidance of MDHA staff members, researching and writing reports, conducting market studies and other work designated by the Director of Urban Development.
REQUIREMENTS: Complete two years of college education and be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program with a major coursework in Urban Planning, Accounting, Regional Planning or a related field.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Understand the principles and practices of urban planning and design;
- Some technical knowledge of demographic and economic analysis through coursework;
- Chronicle the physical and fiscal history of real property parcels
- Prepare a historical analysis of the impact of TIF (Tax Increment Financing) on the redevelopment districts;
- Other related duties as required.
EQUIPMENT USED: General office equipment, automobile, personal computer.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None
ABILITIES REQUIRED: Ability to understand planning and urban development program rules and guidelines; ability to effectively manage projects and priorities; strong organizational, analytical and communication skills; strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, ability to prepare complex reports and correspondence; knowledge of general office procedures; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to perform work with or without an accommodation that requires sitting, standing, and walking, dexterity of hands and clarity of vision, speech and hearing and powers of observation; other physical duties as required.
LICENSES REQUIRED: Valid Driver’s License.
